Happy new year everyone ❤️ My last work of 2025 an Happy new year everyone ❤️ My last work of 2025 and the first to be shown in 2026 is the newest piece in my series of bird inspired vases. My intention was to capture the movement of birds in flight. It began with jays and magpies, but as the sculpture evolved the birds dissolved into the abstract idea of ‘the bird’. I often start with a very loose sketch of my idea. But the proces is completely intuitive. This time the core was formed from broken pieces of leather-hard porcelain, creating an organic base. Birds and wings are hand build and added intuitively; I begin with a direction, but the clay guides the outcome.
